The problem

The places we live in do not serve the quality of our lives

The world is changing faster and faster. Progress and technology set the pace, everything is available here and now, and yet in practice we are more stressed, more worn down, more alone, and our quality of life is going backwards.

Loneliness is rising, mental resilience is declining, we move less, life skills are narrowing, and as a result our sense of personal wellbeing and happiness suffers.

From build quality to quality of life

Shifting the focus from the building to the people in it

A home is not the walls and the rooms, nor is it only the service you receive. The home we choose is the foundation on which we build our quality of life, and a happier one.

As developers, we have the privilege of building places to live that do exactly that.

The Life Zone method turns a broad idea into reality.

It turns an apartment and a project, walls and tiling, into the foundation of a better life.

This is the change the moment calls for: seeing an apartment not as a block of concrete but as something that generates quality of life.

Life Zone developments advance your quality of life by growing community life, improving mental wellbeing and physical health, and lowering the cost of living.

We do this through a framework for running the community and supporting technology, in developments designed to give you that quality of life.

The quality-of-life pyramid: build quality, service quality, quality of life

The four foundations of Life Zone

advancing quality of life in residential developments

The Life Zone method grew out of the science of happiness, the study of communities around the world that cultivate it, and a close look at community life on moshavim and kibbutzim. It is a structured method for creating a community experience in a building or a neighborhood: a kibbutz in the city.

In our developments we bring together four content areas that make life better, richer and happier: physical health, peace of mind and purpose, household economy, and community and belonging.

Community and belonging Peace of mind and purpose Physical health Household economy

Our Method

Not magic. Smart work, sustained over time.

At Life Zone we do not believe in magic solutions. Real change in quality of life does not happen by itself. It takes careful planning, a clear strategy and consistent work over years, with supporting technology and committed people.

We developed a structured method for building communities that make a difference, one that does not settle for a marketing gesture but sets out on a shared journey to establish new habits and change the way we live, across the four foundations that drive quality of life.

The Life Zone team helps run the community and advance these content areas.

One rule for making change stick: keep it easy, accessible and close at hand.

The Life Zone App supports building and sustaining community life by connecting people, making relevant information accessible and driving community initiatives.

Technology in the service of people.

A day in your life at a Life Zone development

06:30A good start

My phone wakes me. The yoga class I signed up for yesterday on the app starts in half an hour. A quick coffee, and instead of hunting for parking I simply press the sports floor in the elevator. A workout, a shower, and I am ready for the day.

08:00The morning flows your way

The children are off to daycare and school, and I am on my way to the train on a shared bike waiting just outside the lobby. A welcome message is waiting on my phone: the healthy sandwiches I ordered yesterday for the children have already been left by the door. One less thing to think about.

11:00A community that saves me time

A short break at the office. In the Life Zone shopping tab I pick fresh vegetables from the local greengrocer. “Arriving by 16:00,” the system confirms. I reserve a place at this evening’s talk and book a babysitter through the app. All in one place.

14:00A moment to breathe

In the middle of the spreadsheets and the phone calls, the app reminds me: time to breathe. Five quiet minutes. A call from daycare about a slight temperature? It is under control. My husband is already on his way, and there is a free appointment at the clinic downstairs. Everything is close by, everything is handled.

17:00The beating heart of the development

Home again. The children are already in the garden, climbing and playing. I sit down on the bench with a cold apple-and-carrot juice that was waiting for me at the juice stand. Dana from building 6 has had her baby? I sign up on the app for the meal rota for new mothers. That is what a kibbutz in the city looks like: we are there for one another.

20:00Quality time together

The babysitter has arrived. We are out on a date at a restaurant the community recommended. Good food, no rush, and tomorrow is Friday. Before bed I glance at the Life Zone trips board for Passover. Maybe we will go on a family trip?

23:00A night of belonging

We park downstairs and run into neighbors coming back from a cooking workshop in the residents’ lounge. A smile, a hug in the elevator, a feeling of belonging. Tomorrow is Friday. Tomorrow there is a local market downstairs. Tomorrow is going to be a wonderful day.
